Are you still officially certified to audit against the OHSAS 18001 Standard?
Believe it or not, the three-year 'grace period' for auditors to refresh their Health and Safety qualification (as required by the replacement Standard, ISO 45001:2018) ended in 2021!
Since no organisation is registered against the obsolete OHSAS 18001, nowadays, it means auditors not officially trained to ISO 45001 risk their audits being rejected during their employer's Certification audits.
We're occasionally contacted by auditors in this predicament, who've been unable to find a training provider still offering the required training. The good news is, it's still possible to rejuvenate your defunct OHSAS 18001 Auditor certificate, thanks to our personal tuition service; as well as for groups of 3 or more, in-house or online.
"I enjoyed the course. It reminded me how important the Standard is!"
For auditors, managers, or anyone working with ISO 45001.
Update or completely re-train?
ISO 45001 took over from the old OHSAS 18001:2007 British Standard, and the good news is that auditors previously trained to 18001 do not have to re-take an entire Internal or Lead Auditor course again to stay 'valid' - you can update your qualification through attendance on this SQMC single-day module.
Our Transition module will be beneficial for anyone maintaining an ISO 45001-based Safety Management System. Managers affected by an 'SMS' should also consider attending the course, to gain a clear understanding of how the changes and additional clauses will impact their role.
Freelance consultants and trainers will also want to attend, and the course is worth 7 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points in the Chartered Quality Institute.
Please note, however, that auditors who are personally registered with IRCA will not be able to use this SQMC course to maintain their registered status.
Is this mandatory?
The Standard requires it for those already trained to previous versions; the latter of which became obsolete in March 2021. While an outdated qualification may be initially treated as an 'Improvement Request' by gracious Certification Auditors, during your organisation's surveillance audit, it will (quite rightly) become a non-conformance on subsequent audits, if not remedied.
Please don't hesitate to contact SQMC if you have any questions.
What will I learn?
- The major additional clause governing the Management of Risk.
- The other major additional clause focusing on the Context of an Organisation.
- An explanation of "Annex SL" - the inspired framework on which all Management Systems Standards are being built.
Participants who successfully complete SQMC's continuous assessment exercises throughout the module will be awarded a globally-recognised Certificate of Achievement.
Free copy of ISO 45001 for each participant (worth £210*)
- Coaching from an experienced Chartered Quality Professional.
- A globally-recognised certificate.
- SQMC's highly-acclaimed aftercare.
*Non-member price from the British Standards Institute.

"I was very nervous about my inexperience, but felt reassured very quickly that no knowledge assumptions were made. Great team, good mix. Also concerned as a hearing aid wearer if I would struggle in group discussions, but breakout facilities helped enormously."
Why choose SQMC?
